Dr. Chia Yu Teng was first elected to the Diamond Bar City Council in 2022.

He was selected to serve his first term as mayor in December 2024.

Teng graduated with a PhD degree in chemistry from Cornell University as well as a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Miami. He has practiced medicine for more than 30 years, and has a clinic in neighboring City of Industry. In 2004, Teng co-founded Central Health Plan of California, a Diamond Bar-based healthcare organization serving older adults throughout Southern California.

For the past 17 years, Teng and his wife, Theresa, have made Diamond Bar their home where they have raised their two children and volunteered in the community. Their volunteer priorities include hosting free health fairs and fundraising for local high schools.

Teng's priorities on the City Council include economic development, particularly supporting small businesses, and enhancing public safety services.
